I was born and raised in Polkville, NC and blessed with a loving, Christian family. I grew up going to Polkville Baptist Church and asked Jesus into my heart at a G.A. camp. For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to work with children. After I graduated from Burns High School, I was accepted into the NC Teaching Fellows program and attended UNC Charlotte. Four years later, I was thrown into a classroom thinking I knew what I was doing. I really had no idea. During my 6 years of teaching, I never really felt like I was where I was meant to be. I didn't understand why. I loved teaching the children but didn't love my job. I patiently waited for God's next move. In 2016, my husband, Josh, was in his last year of residency when we had our daughter Lucy Wren. During that year, I stayed at home with her before we moved to Shelby for Josh to pursue his medical career. Being a full-time, stay-at-home mom or going back into the school system did not seem the right fit for me. However, my heart was still drawn to working with children in some way. An opportunity presented itself at Pleasant City Church's Mother's Morning Out program, and I felt God leading me to take it. It was an amazing experience that allowed me to grow spiritually and personally. During the winter of 2018, my husband and I felt God moving in our church, Polkville Baptist. We were unsure what was going to happen, but we knew God was working. We ultimately felt God moving us toward Hope Community Church. Over the course of a few months, we helped start the Upper Cleveland campus and haven't looked back. God continued to move in my heart. I wanted to get more involved in the church but wasn't sure in what capacity. I volunteered more with the children and found myself wanting to help Angela prepare for Sunday mornings. Out of that, God opened an unexpected door and I joined staff at HCC in May 2019, and finally felt like I was where I'm meant to be. God is truly amazing!
My Hope for HCC
My hope is for the HCC children to come to know Christ as their personal savior and for them and their families to grow closer to Him. I want to serve the Lord in all that I do and do everything I can for the children of HCC. I hope to help families stay connected and help recruit and encourage volunteers.
