THE STORY OF CREATION, ANTICIPATION, REDEMPTION, AND RESTORATION.
Light out of darkness.
1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. - Genesis 1:1-4
We are all a part of the greatest story ever written. All of history, from the most magnificent moments to the most mundane, is being woven together by its Author in pursuit of this end. An end that He revealed from the very beginning: to bring light out of darkness.
God, the Author, has initiated and invited us into this arc of creation, anticipation, redemption and restoration. This grand story is revealed through the Scriptures; the very words of God given to us like a script to allow us to participate in His narrative. Running through the heart of the whole story is a single crimson-stained thread, the ultimate picture of light bursting forth from the darkest day in history. When we examine the script, we can see this thread uniting every page of its 66 books. A single arc tying the whole of history into one theme.
Often times it can be easy to lose the thread within the pages. Our goal for 2020 at Hope Community Church is for us all to be able to trace this ray of light from begninning to end, from Genesis to Revelation, from Alpha to Omega. In 2020, we will walk through the Bible examining 12 unique Chapters of the story arc - highlighting through it all the Light of the World that saves us and sends us out to live on mission.
As we look back, we will naturally look ahead. The faith of the characters we study will inspire us to take steps of our own. We will see God doing the same miracles through us that He has been doing throughout the whole story. Ultimately, we will see that light shines in the darkness, and the darkness cannot overcome it. We’ve been invited to be a part of the greatest story ever written. We hope you’ll join us.
